Happy New Year
and greetings from Keroka. Vidar just finished preaching the Sunday morning service with a sermon titled “The greatest love story ever told.” Keroka is a place with a strong influence from non-evangelicals and Christians here are largely bound by a sin and works mentality. Hearing about a loving Father is new to many. Our first time here, we had a great challenge teaching about righteousness. But now that we are back, we can see fruits from our previous efforts. There is abundance of great testimonies. The Word of God will always set people free!
School already in session
Pastor Meni went ahead of the rest of the team and had already taught on “Healing” and “The Holy Spirit” when we arrived. It is great to be able to have locals help us teach. Quite often the mentality is “You are from the West, which is why success and blessings come easy for you. We are from Africa which is cursed.” But this attitude quickly tumbles when they see the blessings of God truly are working for Pastor Meni also.
A pastor’s life and ministry changed
We always hear and receive testimonies when we come back to a place we have been before. Here are a couple we thought you might enjoy:
I planted three churches before I came to join Safari Bible School. I am on the fourth one now. When I joined the school, it helped me a lot.
It changed my family from one glory to another, through the knowledge that I received. We started enjoying our rights and privileges in Christ Jesus. Now we are free from sickness and diseases because we are healed (1. Peter 2:24). Before, we wasted a lot of money on physicians, but now we receive free healing in Jesus’ name. We lived life [in] lack, but now we rejoice as the Lord supplies our every need through faith. We lived life in sin consciousness, but now we stand before the presence of Father God with boldness, understanding our righteousness by faith.
I passed through churches I planted and experienced supernatural change and they were full of joy in Christ. I teach them about Paul’s revelations to the church of Christ that I received through the teachings in Safari Bible School and also things I study in materials they provide.
In the church I am now, God is adding new born again continuously. And through teaching them the foundational doctrines, things now work better than before. God astonished me also during open air crusades. Before the knowledge from S.B. School, my open air meetings were attended by less than 100 people, but now they come hundreds of people. Even those who minister around me are astonished by what God is doing through his word.
[Note: Pastors around him asked him where he got these teachings from. He told them about the School, and now they have requested that we bring the school to their area.]
When I saw those mighty works, I decided to follow the S.B.School from Keroka to Kisii [a distance of .] So that I can learn three subjects which my classmates have learned before I joined the school.
Now I know I will never be the same again, I am growing spiritually, my family is growing, my ministry is growing and everything around me is changing for the glory of the Living God.
I say to Vidar, God bless you and your fellow teacher Pastor Meni and all those who participated to begin S.B. School. Your work is not in vain but becomes glory to God in Jesus’ name.

A youth leader growing
Here is another testimony from a youth leader here in Keroka:
I praise God! The Lord is good all the time. I’ve seen Him do great things since those teachings. They have enabled me to grow spiritually from one step to another. I was only a child by then but I have seen myself growing. Now I know how to control myself because I had put all blame to somebody else. In the church, maybe if some work was undone I had to complain to my fellow youths – and that is bad – but now I know how to do it, because it’s the love of God that we need. Even my fellow youths have grown through it. And remember, I was good at being angry! But now look I am changed – the Lord has done – I was only being childish!
Also the Lord has done, I was praying, praying, praying, but since those teachings you taught me, now I know how to do it. Praying once and for all, believing, and you get what you need. I had prayed to God to give me a job after my high school several times. But when you taught me, it didn’t take long. I prayed once and believed. I have now had a secure job since October last year as an insurance agent. Wonderful, praise God for what He has done for me. I thank Him for Safari Bible School.

Visiting a retired minister
Last wednesday, we visited Rev. Samoka at his countryside home. He popped into school one afternoon – and heard the message of healing for the first time. In 1952, he started the first Pentecostal church in the tribe of Gusii. At that time there was Catholics and Seventh Day Adventists around. The closest evangelical church was 220km (140mi) away, and it only had 6 members!
This week, we will teach “Bible Doctrines” and “Believer’s Authority” before we continue to Kisumu
* Jan 29 – Feb 16 Kisumu, Nyanza
* April 9 – 27 Kanamai, Mombasa
