Seasons greetings from the Ligard family.
Lots have happened this past year in our family. Cathrine graduated from Oral Roberts University in April with her bachelors in church administration. Then Lisa Eileen was born on August 20.
Vidar has been working hard at Rhema this summer, converting all of the mission critical computer systems over to a single updated system. It was a formidable task to merge all these old systems together, but go live on the new system was successful, and all the hard work is now behind.
In January, we are moving to Kisumu, Kenya. As you know, we have been to Kenya several times on short term trips, but this time it is a permanent move.
In Kenya, we will be starting a traveling bible school. We will set it up in various town centers around the country, inviting pastors and church leaders to come. This is quite similar to some of the work we have done on our trips there already, teaching people for 2-3 weeks at a time. In two weeks, we will be able to teach four classes of 15 hours each. We will then plan on coming back to the same town in a few months to teach for another two or three weeks. We are calling the school Safari Bible School from the Swahili word Safari which means to travel. Cathrine and Vidar will both teach in the school, but we will also bring in other ministers to help us.
This vision was born while traveling the country and seeing that so many pastors and leaders have no real training at all, and the knowledge of God’s Word is thin. This is especially true in the countryside where the standard of living is low and very few can afford to attend bible school in the city for a year. With our traveling bible school we will offer these pastors and leaders more training so they can become effective in reaching their local communities.
We leave Tulsa on December the 13, but will stay a month in Norway to celebrate Christmas before going to Kenya. We are planning on e-mailing a newsletter at least once every other month. Please let us know if you do not wish to receive our newsletter. We pray that you will have a wonderful holiday! Remember that Jesus is the reason for the season, and that He is the Prince of Peace.
