Speakers

Dr. David Dyson | Former Dean | ORU School of Business

Dr. David Dyson has engaged for 40 years in Higher Education with Faculty, Staff and Administrative capacities at Oral Roberts University including nine years as the Dean of the School of Business. He has global experience on several continents and received the International Teaching Excellence Award given by ACBSP in 2018. He has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who in America with Lifetime Achievement designation. He is currently on the Board of Commissioners for ACBSP, an international accreditor of Business Programs who represents over 13,000 members in more than 60 countries. He has been engaged in global Christian ministry with First United Methodist Church of Tulsa and has been a Director at Voice of the Martyrs the last 12 years.

David was in Rotary for many years and is a former Sunriser. He and all members of his immediate family are Paul Harris Fellows.

David is married to Linda Dyson and they recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. They have two Children and five grandchildren.

Mr. Jim Stovall | Founder | Narrative Television Network 

Jim Stovall is a 1981 graduate of Oral Roberts University and was selected as the 2000 alumni of the year. He has been a National Olympic weightlifting champion, the President of the Emmy Award-winning Narrative Television Network, and a highly sought after author and platform speaker. He is the author of 40 books. Six of them have been made into major motion pictures including the bestseller, The Ultimate Gift, starring James Garner and Abigail Breslin. Two more of his novels will be released as movies next year.

Steve Forbes, president and CEO of Forbes magazine, says, “Jim Stovall is one of the most extraordinary men of our era.”

For his work in making television accessible to our nation’s 13 million blind and visually impaired people, The President’s Committee on Equal Opportunity selected Jim Stovall as the Entrepreneur of the Year. He was also chosen as the International Humanitarian of the Year, joining Jimmy Carter, Nancy Reagan, and Mother Teresa as recipients of this honor.

Jim Stovall co-founded the Crusader Scholarship Fund, which over the last 27 years has provided scholarships to approximately 500 ORU students creating a financial impact to ORU in excess of five million dollars. In 2008 Jim Stovall received an honorary doctorate from Oral Roberts University. He and his wife Crystal sponsored the Stovall Administrative Center on campus, and at the 50-year celebration, Jim Stovall received a lifetime achievement award from ORU.

Most recently, he provided a 1.5 million dollar gift to launch the Stovall Center for Entrepreneurship at Oral Roberts University.

Mr. Sam Imende | Head of Properties | Java House Nairobi

Sam Imende, currently Head of Property for Java House Coffee Restaurant, has led the expansion of the brand in the region from site selection to construction. Sam was a founding partner of Enzi Footwear, a casual footwear firm and VituMob, a pioneer eCommerce platform, both based in East Africa. Prior to Java House, he also worked in consulting roles at Dahlberg and BizCorps and as a Microfinance Loan Officer with ECDC Enterprise Development Group in Washington D.C. Sam studied economics at Wake Forest University and received his MBA from the University of North Carolina.

 

Rev. Vidar Ligard | Founder | Safari Mission

Vidar and Cathrine Ligard are the founders of Safari Mission. Based in East Africa, Vidar and Cathrine mentor, teach, and develop church, business, and community leaders. They believe that if you develop a leader, you change a community. With a passion to help people to know God and reach their full potential in Christ, their focus is to train leaders and transform people in East Africa through God’s Word in order to strengthen every believer and change societies. Vidar and Cathrine Ligard are also the Directors of Rhema Bible Training College Kenya, with its 9 campuses. Vidar holds an MBA from Oral Roberts University and a Diploma in Missions from Rhema Bible Training Center, USA.

Mr. Michael Warui | Entrepreneur | Mzima Development

Michael Warui has over 20 years of experience supporting international development programs and institutions in Kenya. He has served in leadership roles at Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), USAID/East Africa, international non-governmental organizations like TechnoServe and Land O’Lakes, and private sector firms such as Price Waterhouse (now PWC), Mzima Development Limited and Storehomes Holdings Limited. Mr. Warui has established strong relationships and worked closely with many regional institutions, private sector companies, and governments. Most recently he has overseen the work of several family businesses, namely Fairview Estate (www.fairviewestate.co.ke) and Storehomes Holdings Company Limited (www.storehomes.net). In the real estate arena, Mr. Warui and his wife Winfred Warui have recently completed Phase 2 of a 64-unit apartment project in Kinoo 87 known as Liza Heights.

Mr. Warui has strong management experience having served as Country Director of TechnoServe as well as Land O’Lakes in Kenya. In these roles, he ensured the strategic direction of programming, managed office and project staff, and supported organizational development. At these organizations, Mr Warui developed relationships across a range of donors including USAID, USDA, IFAD, DfID, Rockefeller Foundation, World Bank, IFC, and GTZ and raised over $8 million in fundraising.

Mr. Warui holds an MBA in entrepreneurship and real estate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in government modified with policy studies from Dartmouth College. He has enjoyed thirteen years of marriage to Winfred Wanjiru, an advocate who oversees her own law firm, and together they have been blessed with a son and two daughters.

Mr. Steve Yoder | President | Stark Truss

Steve Yoder is Chairman of the Board and President of Stark Truss Company, a consortium of 14 factories and about 800 employees. Mr. Yoder is also President of the Ohio Chapter of the Wood Truss Council of America, President of the Board Canton Country Day School in Canton Ohio, Member of the Board of Directors for Kenneth Hagin Ministries, Rhema USA and was a Member of the Board of Directors of the Pregnancy Support Center of Stark County from 2007 – 2011. Mr. Yoder is well traveled and has often taught in Nairobi.
